In a world grappling with the challenges of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) and obesity, unconventional methods are gaining attention. Beyond the pharmaceutical giants like Novo Nordisc with their new and highly lucrative injectable drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, there's a quieter and totally natural player in the field— hypnosis. In this blog post, we explore how hypnosis might offer a unique and holistic self-healing path to bringing Type 2 Diabetes into remission and achieving healthy weight loss, without the need for invasive new medications.
Ozempic, also known as semaglutide, designed to help with the global Type 2 Diabetes epidemic, has been hailed as a “miracle drug". Produced by Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisc, a firm which has grown rapidly to become the second largest company in Europe and soon possibly the largest. Novo Nordisc found that in their own trials, semaglutude users also lost weight. And so to capture the opportunity launched a weight loss derivative named, Wegovy. This has seen remarkable success in the market, raking in $US billions in sales with an estimated 150,000 doctor prescriptions per week in the US alone. These drugs replicate the hormone Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 (GLP-1), which, in essence, suppresses appetite. The result, reduced carbohydrate intake, leading to weight loss for patients.
With over 1 billion obese people globally, the sales figures of these drugs in 2023 reaching a staggering $6.2 billion underscore the urgency of finding effective solutions for weight management. However, questions arise about the long-term sustainability and potential side effects of relying solely on pharmaceutical interventions, when there are highly effective natural remedies also proven to do just this.
Elon Musk has tweeted (X’d) that he is using Wegovy alongside intermittent fasting to control his weight. Which is an interesting statement – is it the drugs or the fasting (intermittent eating = less calories intake) that’s actually helping with weight loss here? The answer seems obvious, at least to me.
Hypnosis operates on a different paradigm—it delves into the mind to influence behaviors and perceptions. As a tool for managing Type 2 Diabetes and promoting healthy weight loss, hypnosis focuses on stress reduction, behavior modification, and creating positive lifestyle changes. I know as in just a few weeks I managed to completely reverse my own diabetes and at the same time lose 15 KGs in body weight taking me now to a healthy 73Kgs all without the use of any “miraculous drugs”, chemicals or synthetic concoctions.
While the scientific literature on hypnosis and weight loss is not as extensive as that for pharmaceutical intervention, let’s face it there is little money to be made in drug free remedies, and so should we be surprised it does not attract huge sums of drug company investment? There are however studies that do suggest that hypnosis can lead to significant weight reduction as well as a ton of anecdotal evidence, such as my own, from those that have benefited first hand from seeing their own long-lasting results. By addressing psychological factors contributing to overeating, hypnosis aims to create sustainable changes in eating habits. Hypnosis works on the ‘cause’ to remove the ‘effect’ and that’s a major difference from long term use of expensive drugs aimed at keeping users ‘hooked’ as proverbial cash cows.
The key advantage of hypnosis and self-healing lies in its holistic nature, a natural phenomenon that in essence, has been used across cultures for millennia and is open to all. It doesn't rely on external substances but rather taps into the individual's own mental and emotional resources. When incorporated into a comprehensive diabetes and nutritional management plan, hypnosis could contribute to improved overall well-being.
In a landscape dominated by pharmaceutical solutions, hypnosis emerges as a unique and potentially effective approach to Type 2 Diabetes remission and healthy weight loss. As we navigate the complexities of global health challenges, it's essential to explore diverse strategies, keeping in mind the individuality of each patient. Hypnosis, with its mind-body focus, might just hold the key to unlocking healthier, sustainable outcomes in the battle against Type 2 Diabetes and obesity. The real ‘miracle’ is the transformational and healing power of our own minds coupled to common sense and allowing access to mother nature to provide the solution.
